Security Police

The main task of Security Police is to ensure the state’s internal security. The Estonian Internal Security Service has also been assigned the tasks of the police, meaning the right to investigate offences and apply coercive measures.

The security of Estonia is supported by three pillars:

  • safety and legal protection;
  • ensuring security with non-military means, mostly related to the protection of constitutional arrangements and collecting information to shape national defence policy;
  • ensuring military preparedness against attacks from external enemies.
